VERSTAPPEN WON FORMULA 1'S FASTEST GRAND PRIX.
Max Verstappen won at Monza on 7 September 2025 with the highest average speed recorded in a Formula 1 World Championship Grand Prix.

Verstappen began from pole after setting the fastest average speed for a qualifying lap at Monza. Lando Norris challenged him immediately and Verstappen briefly surrendered the lead after cutting the opening chicane, but he reclaimed first place within the opening laps.
RED BULL CONTROLLED THE RACE
Once back in front, Verstappen managed the gap and kept both McLarens behind. Red Bull timed his stop effectively and the Dutchman completed the 53 laps in 1 hour 13 minutes and 24.325 seconds, finishing 19.207 seconds ahead of Norris.
THE FASTEST GRAND PRIX
The winning average of 250.706 kilometres per hour surpassed the previous Formula 1 World Championship record set by Michael Schumacher at Monza in 2003. It was only the second time the record had changed in 54 years.
A MONZA SPECIALIST
The result was Verstappen's third win of the 2025 season and his third victory at Monza in four years. He became the first driver since 2019 to convert pole position into victory at the Italian Grand Prix.
