A HOME WIN FROM THE BACK

Kimi Antonelli started nineteenth after a power unit penalty and climbed rapidly through the field. An early red flag and a later Virtual Safety Car shaped the race, but his pace and overtaking kept him in contention throughout the 53 laps.

02

FRESH TYRES OPEN THE DOOR

Mercedes stopped Antonelli for medium tyres during the Virtual Safety Car while George Russell stayed out on used hard tyres. Antonelli recovered the places lost in the stop, caught his team mate and completed the decisive pass with four laps remaining.

03

THE CHAMPIONSHIP LEAD GROWS

Antonelli won by 3.857 seconds from Russell, with Max Verstappen third. His seventh victory of the season extended his championship advantage over Russell to 66 points and made him the first Italian to win at Monza in 60 years.
